For jiu jitsu gym owners
Which BJJ software actually gives you a curriculum?
We checked 12 platforms against their own pricing and feature pages. Almost none of them answer the question a coach actually asks: what do I teach on Tuesday.
We make GrapplingU, and this page ends by making our own case. Everything before that is a plain read of what each of these 12 platforms actually publishes about "curriculum," including two of them where the honest answer is that they do not have much to say about it at all.
The finding
"Curriculum" is mostly a synonym for "video library"
Across this market, when a BJJ gym platform advertises curriculum tools, it almost always means one of two things: somewhere to upload your own instructional videos, or a checklist of techniques required for the next belt or stripe. Neither of those tells a coach what to actually run in class this week, which is the problem a curriculum is supposed to solve in the first place.
Of the 12 platforms we checked, BJJLink is the only one that uses the language of lesson planning at all, describing a curriculum builder and a syllabus builder in its own marketing. We could not verify what that feature actually produces day to day, so we are treating it as BJJLink's claim, checked and reported honestly, not a confirmed product review.
Platform by platform
What "curriculum" means at each one
Where a platform's own pricing or feature page does not describe a curriculum feature at all, we say that plainly rather than guessing at what it might do.
| Platform | What "Curriculum" Means There |
|---|---|
| Kmura | Video library plus a belt and stripe tracking checklist. No lesson planning feature described. |
| BJJLink | Belt promotion automation, plus the only stated curriculum builder and syllabus builder in this list. Unverified that language is BJJLink's own marketing copy; we could not confirm what it produces in actual use. |
| MatGoat | A technique video library, explicitly not a lesson planning tool, plus a belt tracking checklist. |
| BJJ Track | Not Specified its own pages describe AI credits, storage, email and SMS for marketing, not a curriculum or lesson planning feature. |
| Kicksite | Not Specified its pricing page says every feature is included at every tier, without itemizing what those features are, so we could not classify a specific curriculum feature. |
| Martialytics | Not Specified on its own pricing page. No curriculum or lesson planning feature is described there. |
| Gymdesk | Not Specified on its own pricing page beyond membership management and the add on fees. |
| PushPress | A named "Rank Tracking" feature for martial arts, a belt style checklist. No lesson planning feature described. Its marketing product, PushPress Grow, is entirely separate and unrelated to curriculum. |
| Zen Planner | Not Specified its tiers are gated by active member count with no curriculum feature described. |
| Clubworx | Martial arts grading, a belt style checklist, but only as a $10/mo add on, not included in any base tier. |
| Mindbody | None. It is general fitness scheduling software and explicitly has no belt or rank tracking of any kind. |
| Spark Membership | Not Specified no feature detail was available on the page we checked. |
| GrapplingU | Supplied, Not Stored a real weekly curriculum written by a named coach, delivered through the app rather than built or uploaded by the gym. See below. |
Supplied by whom, and are they any good
Greg Souders, Standard Jiu Jitsu
GrapplingU's weekly curriculum is built by Greg Souders, head coach at Standard Jiu Jitsu in Rockville, Maryland, and a Team Americas coach at CJI. His student Gavin Corbe took second at the 2026 ADCC World Championship at 66kg, entering as a late replacement on eleven days' notice with no training camp, and lost the final to Kennedy Maciel by armbar in overtime, the first Filipino ADCC silver medalist. Gavin's brother Deandre Corbe won the ADCC West Coast Trials, a separate result, same room, same curriculum.
To be direct about what we are not claiming: plenty of world class competitors sell instructionals online, and several other gym platforms in this comparison mention elite athletes in their own marketing. Our claim is narrower than that. GrapplingU is the platform in this specific comparison where the actual weekly class plan, the thing a coach opens and teaches from on Tuesday, is written by a named coach rather than assembled or uploaded by the gym itself.

Deandre Corbe
ADCC West Coast Trials champion. Gavin's brother, same room.
What that actually gets you back
Everyone else gives you a builder. This is a curriculum.
We are not going to tell you a specific number of hours this saves, because that number depends entirely on your own week. What we can tell you is the mechanism: instead of opening a blank page and deciding what to teach, a coach opens the app and the week is already there, built from Greg's curriculum, ready to hand to any coach in the building. If you coach 20 classes a week and currently plan 10 of them yourself, at roughly two hours of real prep each, work out your own number from that. Ours would just be a guess about your gym.
Alongside the curriculum, GrapplingU also runs class planning, per-student progress and XP, a student app on iOS and Android, check-in, member billing, a lead CRM, messaging, a kids program, and it builds and hosts the gym's own website. Ad management is a separate, founder-delivered service at roughly $100/mo, run personally, not an automated feature we can promise to scale.

Frequently asked
What does BJJ gym software usually mean by curriculum?
In most of the 12 platforms we checked, curriculum means one of two things: a video library the coach uploads their own footage to, or a belt promotion requirement checklist. Neither one tells a coach what to actually run in Tuesday's class.
Does BJJLink actually build my lesson plans for me?
BJJLink is the only platform in this comparison that uses the language of lesson planning in its own marketing, describing a curriculum builder and a syllabus builder. We could not verify what that tool produces in day to day use, so treat the claim as marketing copy until you have seen it live in a demo.
Who is Greg Souders?
Greg Souders is the head coach of Standard Jiu Jitsu in Rockville, Maryland, and coaches Team Americas at CJI. His student Gavin Corbe took second at the 2026 ADCC World Championship at 66kg, entering on eleven days' notice with no training camp. Gavin's brother Deandre Corbe won the ADCC West Coast Trials. Greg supplies the weekly curriculum inside GrapplingU.
Is GrapplingU claiming to be the only platform associated with a world champion?
No. Kmura's own homepage says world champions and academy owners trust its software, and other platforms in this category carry similar associations. Our claim is narrower and specific: GrapplingU is the platform where the curriculum itself, the actual weekly plan a coach teaches from, is written by a named coach, not merely used by one.
